These days..my mother is 91 and is now living in a retirement home...which means..that I see her every day and do loads of stuff for her.....i really enjoy it...and knowing our time is limited...I have really begun to appreciate the special moments we are having.
Well, she is moving rooms...this week...she was WAY down the hall...and FAR from the dining room/aka THE SOCIAL ROOM/ ...and it was really hard on her heart to walk so far ...the Doc said..GET A CLOSER ROOM...so I volunteered and pleaded..and sure enough she is moving on Wednesday...(smile on my face)
Well, that means I have to move more of her things from her home...which means I have to go through her home...and so I have...
wading through loads of memories and so grateful that she is alive still and that I can throw things away without the emotions that are involved after she dies...
and as I look through her things, I realize why I love photos... and I can't seem to get enough of them....
I never had a wedding photo of my hubby and myself taken....yes, had loads of the wedding..but it was the hippie era..and we were not traditional in any way...so ...no photo..
and guess what my FAVORITE photos are....Yep...Wedding photos...
Then, in my heart of hearts and until now didnt really want to let anyone know...but i always wanted to get into some kind of movie production.....so I love love love old vaudeville photos...
and so on...actually the list really goes on...I just realize that we think we are so complicated..but really we are products of all our histories and memories all lumped together...and Voila! out comes a photo lover..replacing lost history, lost memories..and along the way...enjoying every minute of it...
hmmmmm..time to get lost in my photo room once again...
